The Board of Directors of Oakdale Electric Cooperative is seeking a qualified and engaged leader to succeed the current General Manager (GM) who will retire in January 2020. Oakdale has retained NRECA’s Executive Search Group to facilitate the search process.
Oakdale Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative that provides reliable and affordable electricity and related energy services to its residential, business and farm members in most of Monroe and Juneau counties, in addition to portions of Jackson, Sauk and Wood counties. The Cooperative is headquartered in Oakdale, WI, halfway between Chicago and Minneapolis and 45 miles from La Crosse, WI. Oakdale receives wholesale power from Dairyland Power Cooperative and has an annual revenue of $40 million.

Successful GM candidates will be forward thinking, have high integrity and excellent relationship building and communication skills. Candidates are required to have, at a minimum, 5-10 years at an electric utility with a minimum of 5 years of experience at the senior level. A strong understanding of finance as it relates to electric utility cooperatives is required. In addition, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, electrical engineering, accounting and finance, or related degree is preferred.
Candidates must have broad electric utility management experience and knowledge that includes such areas as operations and safety, strategic planning, team building, and member communications. Understanding and appreciation of the cooperative principles is a plus.
