Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
• Interpersonal and supervisory skills necessary to manage the activities of a diverse group of employees and to work productively with all levels of organizational personnel.
• Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing, production, or utility setting.
• Skill in communicating technical information and providing technical instruction to team members.
• Ability to read and understand detailed drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience/familiarity with P&IDs, ladder logic, process controls, and PID Controllers.
• Ability to make complex mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
• Mental ability to work on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with periodic disruptions due to people, email, calls, operational concerns, etc. Frequent simultaneous handling of multiple projects is to be expected.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Michigan.
• Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of operating a steam electric power plant and combustion turbine power plant.
• Prior experience in electric utility engineering.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Effective workplace skills as demonstrated through WorkKeys assessments (Workplace Documents – 5, Applied Math – 5, Graphic Literacy – 5).

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Periodic exposure to environmental hazards associated with electrical, mechanical and/or power equipment.
• Exposure to extreme hot or cold weather.
• Mental ability to work on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with frequent disruptions.
