Journey Lineworker

Hiring Range:                      $29.81 to $36.50/Hour

This position is responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground electrical distribution infrastructure.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical substation system equipment.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs transmission system infrastructure.
  • Performs duties in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the training of Apprentice Lineworkers in the use of safety and proper procedures while working around energized equipment.
  • Performs the duties of the Electrical Services Supervisor in his or her absence as assigned.
  • Locates electrical and fiber optic systems.
  • Responds to power outages, emergency situations, or customer concerns; responds to after-hours emergencies.
  • Troubleshoots transmission, substation, distribution, secondary services, and street light systems.
  • Develops and implements switch plans to safely perform switch procedures of infrastructure changes.
  • Operates a variety of construction equipment as needed.
  • Performs related duties.

 

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • A high school diploma or GED AND completion of a four-year Lineman Apprenticeship program as recognized by the US Department of Labor or completion of Lineman school and four (4) years of relevant power line installation experience or equivalent. The applicant must possess a current Journeyman Lineman certification at the time of application.
  • Must possess and maintain a current class A commercial driver’s license.
  • May be required to lift and/or carry heavy, bulky supplies, materials, and/or other items weighing up to 70 pounds and carry up to 20 feet.
  • Must be able to work with hands rubber-gloved and with rubber sleeves.
  • Must be able to work from an aerial lift device and climb and work on wood structures up to 100 feet in height.
  • May be exposed to dangerous machinery, potential physical harm, extreme weather conditions, infectious diseases, high voltage work areas and extreme heights.
  • May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.
  • May be subject to call-out and/or call-back.
