This classification system uses a pay scale. Positions requiring more experience and education are placed higher on the pay scale than those positions requiring less experience and education. If it is deemed necessary to increase the education or experience requirements for a position, then the position may be placed on a higher level of the pay scale. Pay Plan The City's pay plan is intended to provide equitable compensation for all positions when considered in relation to each other, to general rates of pay for similar employment in the private and public sector in the area, to changes in the cost of living, to financial conditions of the City and to other factors.
